Of course after Labor Day weekend it was Brianna's birthday. We had a lovely Dairy Queen ice cream cake evening on her birthday and then that weekend she had some friends over to share her 17th birthday celebration with her. How could I possibly have a 17 year old? Where does the time go.............
We spent Saturday's in Aug and Sept at football games. Jacob did his last year of flag football this year. He was on the Patriots team--I'm sure I'll never catch him wearing that jersey again. :)
Nick played on the Rigby Jr. High 9th grade team this year. They didn't have the best record, but it was better than the JV or the Varsity team! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of him so I'll just publish this one of him and his homies posing on top of Table Rock while they were at scout camp this summer (nice shirt he has on..........). I just love where we live when it's fall. It reminds me of when we moved in. We have now been here for 5 years if you can believe it. With all the trees turning colors around here, it's so beautiful. We had an exceptionally warm September and October and my flowers were still so pretty.
So, we also had another fun and exciting thing happen to us--we had to dig a new drain field. Now since our home is only 7 years old you would never think that the original drain field would fail, but alas, it did. We now know a lot about drain fields. It was kinda like our experience up at Island Park. We wonder why we have to be the experts at sewer systems. It seems really crappy (pun intended!). Here's what we now know: When you put in a drain field you can reduce it by 40% of what is recommended, and apparently everyone always does. Well, our drain field started out with three 'legs' but when the sprinkler system was put in originally, one of the 'legs' was severed, so we've been running on two. So we had more like a 65% reduction and that doesn't work for long. Now with the new drain field, according to our sewer engineer, the whole city of Rigby could use our potty and it wouldn't fill up what we have. That is not an invitation, but if you've gotta go--we're here for you.
It's a good thing we have a big yard because we had plenty of room to do this, but you can only imagine what it has done to our lovely lawn. We are preparing for lots of yard work in the spring. Yuck!
We also had another birthday this fall. Jacob turned the big 10 years old! Again, how can my BABY be 10? Wow. Anyway, we had another ice cream cake evening with family, his daddy gave him his very own minnow net and fishing stuff. He loves to be in the dry bed and canal searching for minnows and fish! Then he had his friends over the following Saturday. Check it out, they played football outside and it was a beautiful day--the absolute last weekend we have had a beautiful day since.
Can you tell he has a confused look in the photo above? It's because he had the candles that couldn't be blown out on his cake and he was just figuring it out! Gotcha!
Well, that catches me up a little--just in time for the holidays! BTW, Tanner Christmas party my house on December 19th--you're all invited. :)
