I know I owe all of you details about Jr. Miss but I haven't gotten those pictures yet, so you'll have to wait. Bottom line, she won a scholarship for interview and one for scholastics. She did awesome and played her flute perfectly! We were so proud.......more to come.
I just couldn't wait to share the best week ever, so here goes. On Monday, Kevin turned 42. Turning 42 is pretty sureal and not necessarily the best thing, but the best thing is that he was born. There's at least 4 of us that are SO happy he was. I made him an awesome seafood dinner (mussels and calamari) and watched him eat it. :)
Brianna also got news on Monday that she got her first REAL job. She will be working at the Riot Zone this summer, and is so happy about it. See, those interviewing skills she learned for Jr. Miss are already paying off! Here is the link for more info

On Tuesday, Kevin and I had the most important meeting of our life. We met with our investors to see if they would financialy back us to build a new shop. These special people had backed us to buy the lot last year, and we were praying (a lot) that they would see that we were a good risk and it was worth doing again. About a month ago the building that Kevin has been in, and his dad and grandpa before him, sold and he now has a new landlord. His rent increased and he signed just a 6 month lease, so we are getting a little nervous. Being able to build our own shop and growing our business would be a dream come true. So, you can see why we were just a little bit anxious for this day. Here's a shot of the plans:
We would grow from 2 (little) bays to 6 wide open bays. Plus, Kevin would have an office! I know, it's a crazy dream world we live in. We are working with Jemco construction and Ed has done SO much work to prepare for this (thanks!). So, anyway, we had our meeting on Tuesday and presented all this to them and guess what? THEY SAID YES!!! Now we are frantically trying to get through planning and zoning and all sorts of other things that I don't quite understand, and we are building a new and improved Oswald Service. When they said yes, I just started crying, it was so much to take in. Really good day.
Jacob has also had a good week. Due to a poor choice on his part, he had been grounded for a week. His sentence ended this week and he has been 'fishing' every minute since. You need to understand that in the spring of each year the canal company stops the flow to the dry bed and Rigby canal (behind our house). This forces the fish to retreat to the little ponds that are left behind. These little ponds are prime fishing spots for local Rigbians and 10 year old (newly freed) little boys. Here's his gear that is always at the ready. He got this new reel from his Grandpa for Christmas and put the line on the spool himself. Usually this stuff is in the canal next to the pond at all times, but we made him bring it in for fear they would let the water out:
Grandpa, can you please take this kid fishing soon?!!!
Nicholas also had a great week. He is in 9th grade and in HS track:
His track meet this week was at Bonneville and he set personal records for the 400m, 200m, and long jump. He thinks he's all that. So do we.
Because I'm a bad parent and have never been to any of his track meets I had to make him put on his outfit and pose. He doesn't really run barefooted. :)
Another thing that has brought joy this week is that we have seen subtle signs of spring. You can see here that the Peony's are breaking through. We took the flower pots into Garden Gate yesterday. Let the growing begin!
On Friday I interviewed for a new job. It's a job at the hospital, so I'm not really going to go anywhere if I get it, just thought it was a good time to try to spread my wings. I haven't interviewed for a job for 21 years, so this was kinda weird! I like being on the interviewer side of the table much more than the interviewee! Stay tuned, I should know the results next week.
Ozzy even had a good week (I'm guessing because he can't talk). At the first of the week he went past the invisible fence and rolled either in the groady drybed or cow poop, who can tell? So, freedom was good for the moment but as a result he was not allowed in the house most of the week. The Invisible Fence people came and he got a new collar. He's now brushed and pretty again and welcome to come in. This is dog bliss:
On Friday Kevin got an exciting phone call. He had purchased raffle tickets from Jade Steffler for his dirt bike. Jade has been called to the Houston Texas mission and in preparation had put his bike up for raffle. Kevin won it!
So, we know the Lord works in mysterious ways because last year Kevin sold his dirt bike to help pay our stupid tax bill----and then this year he wins Jades! How cool is that? Thanks Jade, and we wish you the best in your service to the Lord. Hopefully this is a Holy bike now and Kevin won't hurt himself on it. :)
So, now you can see why it's been our best week ever! In celebration we are cooking this (prime rib) for dinner:

Bottom line, we are super blessed. We know that our Heavenly Father knows us and is aware of our needs. We know that none of this is because of anything we have done, only what our Heavenly Father wants for us at this time. We are grateful for our blessings, good people who are in our lives, and good cuts of meat. :)
